Our engineers have played a key part in the DMG Media Network and Telecoms team for a number of months. Our flexible contracts allowed them to commit to us for the precise time period they require. Our engineers’ specialist Cisco knowledge-base that includes content load balancing and security makes them highly valued members of the DMG Media Network and Telecoms team.
Key projects include the separation of the Northcliffe Media infrastructure from the rest of the group following its sale. This project was delivered through the Christmas holiday period of 2012, ensuring minimal impact to the DMG infrastructure for the beginning of the new year.
Our services to DMG are comprehensive. We’ve migrated their data centre to new service providers and resolved incidents through the provision of specialist resources. We’ve deployed resources overseas to investigate best practice and performance improvements. Within rapid time-frames we’ve selected and sourced critical hardware, and we’ve reduced costs through procuring hardware on a rental basis. Our global network design consultancy services worked with DMG acquisitions which would require integration into their infrastructure. Through the post-design phase, our engineers tested the new infrastructure until go live and beyond.
Zenith Insurance are a leading provider in the motor insurance industry. A key aspect of their growth strategy was the acquisition of smaller insurance companies. Incorporating those companies into a unified central infrastructure threw up an interesting challenge. Disparate systems, networks and data needed to be consolidated whilst streamlining process and reducing costs.
Zenith approached us to design the networking elements of their new data centre. In creating the right solution, our challenge was to balance performance, maintainability, supportability and business continuity against strict budget requirements. Achieving this objective required us to have in-depth product knowledge of the entire Cisco portfolio. From this knowledge and our experience in requirements capture and bespoke design, we were able to select and source the optimum solution within budget, as well as provide on-going support for it.
As a major government department, the Environment Agency’s IT system is critical to the national infrastructure for the supply of key public services such as flood monitoring.
As a long-term trusted advisor, we helped the EA to review IT vendor networking solutions. Through our deep knowledge of historic, current and future routing and switching products, we enabled the EA to implement new hardware and software at a fifth of the cost of a solution originally put forward by another supplier. Not only was the new system more cost effective, but it also required a far simpler and therefore lower cost support package.
NATS provide air traffic navigation services to aircraft flying through UK controlled airspace at several national and international airports. NATS moves over 6,000 flights every day through busy skies around the world safely and efficiently.
When NATS required a cost-effective access server solution which provided secure control over their networking infrastructure assets, they approached us. Key to our ability to source the most effective solution was our complete knowledge and understanding of leading vendors’ networking and security product portfolios past and present. That knowledge enabled us to source products which are typically difficult to source quickly and we did so within budget. NATS now have a robust access control solution which operates smoothly and meets all of their requirements.
It’s 6pm on Friday and a Babcock engineer calls us in desperate need of a replacement voice gateway for a failed unit. Babcock staff had lost telephony communications, and it was critical that their voice circuit be back online that evening. Despite no support contract between Itelligentsia and Babcock being in place, we wanted to step up to the challenge.
Ordering voice licences is only possible during normal business hours and the distribution lead-time is typically between 24 and 48 hours. Undeterred, and within 2 hours, we had re-designed and built an equivalent system using a legacy router and an alternative, simplified licensing solution. Babcock’s voice gateway and circuit were restored to operation by 9pm that evening.
